Discontented with his state of existence and with his own secret and self-destructive attraction to men, Reuben, the son of a baker, is convinced to engage in an act of rebellion against his father. But when his compatriot betrays him, Reuben awakens to shackles, a filthy dungeon, and the knowledge that he is going to be forced to battle captive zombies for the entertainment of the Bylondon underworld.

When he's claimed, instead, by a powerful and stunning member of Bylondon's ruling family, Reuben is willing to serve in whatever way ensures that he'll see another day, even if that means training to become the perfect human horse. Erik is a kind master, and one that Reuben thinks he could grow to love... but the power of his shame and his self-hate rise up inside him, threatening to tear him away from the love—and the lifestyle—that he could never have brought himself to openly desire.

December 1906

"I saw a body!" Petunia, the new head maid, wouldn't stop shaking even when Mr. Fry gathered her in his arms for comfort.

"Was it the master?"

"Couldn't tell!" She clutched her pale fingers in his apron, keeping her head down.

Jack looked at them from behind one of the marble horse statues guarding the entrance to Bluefinger's mansion. A sharp cry tore through the open window and he cowered, much like the other servants. Hans, the master's personal guard, had chased them all out minutes ago.

He pressed closer to the statue's pedestal and put his arms around it as if it could protect him from the chill of the evening rain. He tried to ignore all the stares they got from passersby, closing up in his own guilt. He knew something like this would happen. He warned the master Chestnut couldn't be controlled, but he wouldn't listen. And now, one of them was most likely dead.

"Yes, yes…YES! Pony Play. Real pony play, not alluded to or teased about or bait and switch. All the goodies guaranteed. This isn't one of those fizzle and duds, but a live firecracker--Pop…Pop…POP! While the setting and some of the scenes are gruesome, the story itself has a sweetness to it. Copper is a prized stallion and therefore treated as such, but he is expected to be an obedient one. So while this is a story that becomes more loving as it goes on and Copper and Erik bond; it is not a gentle one. Erik is firm, but never unduly cruel. In fact, there are several instances where you realize how gentle of heart Erik truly is. This story ends at point where Copper has cleared a hurdle and is ready to progress to the next stage, one that's been hinted at. So the HFN is great, but I really want the sequel, now. Trust me there's some pretty tempting things waved in front of us. "

"Copper Horse: Fear is one of my favorites by this writing team. I loved every minute I spent reading this book. Yes, there were times I wanted to pull Reuben into my arms and save him from the ‘lessons’ he was made to do. But even then I could see that although Reuben fights Erik as well as his submission to him, he also quickly became more settled with himself and even (to his own dismay) comfortable at becoming Erik’s pet. I can’t wait until the next book in the series. There is still much to learn about these two men and I’m anxiously waiting to see what happens next."

"Only Kat and Agnes Merikan can make a slavery situation loving. A pony fetish, fascinating. The captor someone we root for. That is exactly what happens in The Copper Horse: Fear. It is a fascinating world that Kat and Agnes have created for Erik and Reuben. The transformation of Reuben into Copper and his acceptance of his fate is an interesting struggle to witness. As long as Reuben embraces being Copper to his fullest potential, I think these two will be inseparable. I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book!"
